In March 1988, the young master gunsmith Karl Prommersberger founded Büchsenmacherei Prommersberger with a workshop at the Stadtplatz in Aichach. On October 21, 1990, the next step followed with the opening of a retail shop with an adjoining workshop at Marktplatz 1, 86556 Kühbach. At that time, our business activities mainly comprised the sale of hunting and sporting firearms, repairs, and the manufacture of hunting rifles, sports pistols and sports revolvers. In 1991, following a training course at the Smith & Wesson Academy, CLUB 30 was established. In 1995, training courses with John Nowlin Senior and Les Baer followed. With the rise of large-caliber handgun shooting in the 1990s, we intensified our work with large-caliber sporting firearms. Following our participation in the IPSC European Championship in 1998 in Crete, a business relationship with STI, USA began to take shape. In the years that followed, the STI brand was promoted by Büchsenmacherei Prommersberger through competitions and sporting events (STI-OPEN) and through appearances at IWA. This led to us becoming STI’s strongest overseas partner for many years. The successful business relationship resulted in the then-owner Dave Skinner designating us as the trademark holder of the “STI” brand in Europe. Following a change in ownership, serious differences unfortunately arose between STI’s new management and Büchsenmacherei Prommersberger. In 2015, the collaboration with STI was therefore terminated, and the STI brand became the independently registered trademark STP® of Büchsenmacherei Prommersberger. This marked the beginning of our own production. In 2016, we invested in a dedicated production facility in which new, high-quality CNC machines are employed in our in-house manufacturing operations.
